Tim Desmet has a background in Tissue Engineering. He did his PhD at Ghent University on 3D-printing biodegradable meniscus implants. After almost a decade at Agfa-Gevaert, where he worked as business developer/innovation manager, he returned to the University Hospital of Ghent. As a business developer for UGent TechTransfer he helps clinicians and researchers to bring their research on ATMPs to a first-in-human clinical trial or to the market. This by creating spin-off companies or by setting up collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry. He holds an MBA and is an early investor in several spin-off companies.
