Headed by prof. Bart Vandekerckhove, in 2024 “CellGENTherapies”, the GMP unit of University Hospital of Ghent (UZ Gent) and the University of Ghent (Ugent), has received €4.6 million external funding from Europees Fonds voor Regionale Ontwikkeling (EFRO RNAvance), Fonds voor Innoveren en Ondernemen (FIO) and Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO-Hercules).

This budget supplemented with an additional € 2,5 million by UZGent itself, will ensure the successful construction of a GMP facility that can support academic research as well as industrial needs for the production of investigational and personalized advanced therapies.

A full floor new GMP facility (1000 square meter) will be installed at the novel Nobel building at UZ Gent being a top-notch infrastructure for the manufacturing of advanced medicines for innovative clinical trials.
